Hello everyone:
Since all my gas bikes are winterized for the season and it was a beautiful day today I rode the Harley Livewire up to my in-laws place to show them the bike.
It was a 70 km trip each way. I started out with 100% charge and drove it the same way I would a gas bike. Not pampering it to save the battery.
I was riding the HD Livewire in ROAD mode so you know distances in that mode.
When I started it said I had 199 km range on it. I live in Toronto and to get to their place I start out in the city but then go to country side roads. Mixed speeds of between 40 km/h to 85 km/h were used.
After the ride I had completed exactly 140 km and it was at 29% battery life left and it said I had 59 km left so it was pretty much bang on for distance travelled.
It has a 15.5 kWt battery so I calculated that if I charged the bike at night at a cost of .074 cents per kWt hour the total trip cost me just over 80 cents to travel 140 km.
Total cost of same trip for my other bikes:
HD Livewire 140 km cost 80 cents Canadian.
1975 Honda CB750 approximately $9.00 Can.
1980 Honda CBX 6 Cyl 1047 CC $14.00 Can.
This is a great way to travel at today’s fuel costs.
Take care everyone

PS. Picture of my Livewire in my father in laws driveway. He was amazed at the bike and how it made no noise when it was on.
