You know I always enjoy his videos. But there are two issues usually. Every damn thing about livewire is perfect. And the numbers are always fast and loose. There is usually good information but also just not great about being clear about what is a guess. 3 high mileage people based just on who he knows? Assume 80 percent of the people have better things to do the post on you tube and here.

He has no way to know how many packs have gone bad. Nor how many have lost capacity. A Facebook poll on those three things would have been a reasonable start.

Now details about the pack and pictures were interesting. My bigger concern is that it could lead people to not be careful about it. His son in SFO has cooler weather then people in southern US. Might be ok to fast charge there. Though livewire does warm not too. He does propose some interesting math based on the spec. I would have liked to see he go deeper there. So he identified the cell and the spec's from the i3. How many do our bikes have? We should be able to know the actual vs represented size. Also using the expected range as the battery has not changed is just goofy. Anyone that rides the bike know that formula is shifty at best. If we know what the algorithm was sure but it is clear at the top of the pack it is way more liberal then at the bottom. I would be shocked if they really gave us 20% extra pack and didn't tell us. I mean that would be a cool thing to tell people. Assuming a pack costs around $10K we have $2K of safety buffer on the battery? If you built a 200K pack why wouldn't you sell it that way.

I will be super excited to get 200k. Much less 400k. It could be great news. It may raise the value of our bikes when with old tech. That said in 10 years when I pass 150k I sure hope there will be a custom battery shop to swap in longer range and lighter pack.

But regardless it will certainly cover the up front expense over 200K miles.

I do think he is right. I hope Livewire can take this advantage forward.

I think it was on the Bikes and Beards youtube channel, (I could be wrong) they said the replacement battery was $8000. I have only seen that on one youtube video though and it was a couple years old, Hopefully by the time we need replacements that cost will be much lower. Or like you say there will be better options with more range.

I would feel better about the possibility of future replacement battery options if the LiveWire had stayed under the HD brand. Harley seems to love selling accessories and performance upgrades for their ICE bikes I had hopes of someday seeing a Screaming Eagle battery for the ELW with updated tech/range. I'm still hoping but until then enjoying the hell out of the bike just the way it is!
