Range vs speed.

We know it is related but has anyone tested the diff between 80, 75, 65, 55 MPH? I generally just assume 80 miles at 80. But I haven't really tested. Going on a 500-600 mile weekend trip. Trying to see what to test to figure it out. Not like going 55 I5 is an option. But might go back the slow way.

The stupid Livewire app actually estimates like 130 miles on a trip using the interstate. That is just nuts to tell people that will work.

The only thing I find useful about the app is the ability to check the SOC remotely. Some times during charging the charging gets interrupted, stops and does not restart, being able to check the charging remotely is a plus.
I’m not tech savvy, so this assessment of the app is not an expert opinion, but I find the app to be very clumsy and slow. The SOC reading is only updated periodically, at unpredictable intervals.
If the cell service is weak or nonexistent then the app is obviously useless, which is in fact the case on most of the routes I ride. Fortunately if your using is a public, pay for charger, there is usually an adequate cell signal.
I have nothing amazing to reveal here. My longest ride starting out with 100%, took me 103 mi (166 km), with 14% remaining. If I had taken it down to 2% like Oldun did, that would have been 117 mi (188 km). This was riding non freeway, two lane roads, riding with traffic, mostly +/- 50 mph (80 kph) only passing cars a couple of times, not all of it was on flat ground, some hills.
I don't have great data on range vs speed, and I don't ride for max distance, but I know I can get 99 miles riding mostly under 60 mph, with max speed of 65mph and some cruising at 25-45mph while passing through small towns.

I do a 55 mile ride at predominantly 70-75 mph on the highway, and have 28%/28 mi left at the end.

Running track days at speeds up to 115mph with constant hard acceleration and average speeds of prob just under 80mph, I can do 80 miles in 4 sessions with nominally 1 hour of Level 1 charging between sessions. I'd be guessing how many added miles the Level 1 charging sessions provided, but maybe 20 - and I am in limp mode at 0 at the end of 4 sessions. So, I'm guessing I get a range of about 60 miles with hard riding and an average speed of about 80mph.

YMMV

Seems like we are getting about the same range, when comparing highway rides.
I Started a ride with 100% for an 62mi ride / 52mi highway at 65-75 mph / 10mi surface streets at 25-45 mph, ended with 24% left.

Thank you for your track days, range info. Your range of about 60mi of hard riding sounds in line with a review I’ve seen. When after the reviewer had tested the range riding conservatively, he then said something like: “let’s see how far it will go when ridden hard”, he wiped it pretty good, and he got (if I remember correctly) 67mi.

When I charge on L1, it usually takes 6.5-7.5 minutes to gain 1%. When you do your 4 sessions at the track, I’m assuming that you’re charging 3 times on L1, for about an 1 hour each time, if so your charging about 180 min. divided by 7min. Per 1% = about 26%. If that’s true, your estimate of 20mi added with L1 charging, seems to be about what I’ve seen.
I mean the bluetooth only works now if the app is running. So it is kind of required if you want audio controls.
There are so many accessories for other Harley's, would be nice if they had options for L2 7kW and L2 11kW OBC upgrades. I imagine a lot of people would buy into that.

I mean sure but they aren't selling and they did try and cut 8k$ of cost out if them. Multiple skus etc etc. Clearly the issue is zero is closer to right model and customization and livewire has the better bike. Hate the zero store but otherwise I walked into a dealer the other day and there were 15 bikes. 7 models. Different colors. $12k to $23k.

My speedo overstates actual speed by 2 MPH at 60. So, I set my cruise control to 62 mph (displayed) and do 90 miles at a stretch and that's consistently the break even point where 1% of battery capacity = 1 mile of travel. If I go to 70 displayed, it's about 0.8 miles per percent of battery. Overall I was quite happy to consistently hit 100 miles of range at true albeit in the right lane nominally at 10 mph under the posted speed.

Sorry, my omission as I saw it mentioned in a subsequent post. I have a Puig windscreen installed. Without it, the result would be lower miles per percent charge.
Both of mine overstate by 2mph as well
I'd be curious to know the number of owners that use the HD app vs. those that don't Personally I've never used the app or heard a compelling reason to use it.
I use it on most of my longer rides, or to areas I'm not familiar with. I use it mainly because of how easy the map creator is, which syncs with the app seamlessly.
I have various windscreens that I use, however my go-to has been the stock Pan America screen which seems to help with mileage. The longest I've gone on a single charge was 132 miles, with 14% SoC left over. It was last summer, average speeds were 45-55mph (most of it was 55mph) with a few slow sections through towns/villages/one major city. I believe I had some tail wind that day, as I've only seen that range once. I had a good day like that a few weeks ago, went 70 miles and had 50% SoC left over, avg speed was 55mph crossing through the Blue Ridge Mountains

Do all of the apps features work for you? I tried the "Find a Charge station" button and it does nothing for me. I also can't get the create a ride feature in maps to work. If I use google maps and have my phone connected to the bike will its gps feature work with the display? I haven't tried it myself yet.

Also when I use the find a dealer option in the app and click "Take me there" it doesn't work, just hangs on finding routes...

Also the "My Dealer" Option in Profile, find the local dealer when I click the + Add a Dealer option it won't save.
There is no google integration. There isn't really even proper notification. My polar watch gets turn by turn notifications but the bike only seems to get music, and message notifications. To get turn by turn you need the app. I use bluetooth audio and have a phone mount so it is pointless. I guess if you didn't do the phone mount thing and didn't use bluetooth it might be worth the trouble.
