I have powered a phone and two cameras (including its brain) off that port.
while it's not super powerful, it seems capable of most "rider" needs.

if you're using a droid (not sure about iDevices)... tasker can help change settings when attached to your charger. (set it up for your ride.)

.. I really don't want to be looking at the phone while riding anyway...

yeah, I will say, I don't like things sticking off my bars (personally), but this scenario has made me better at listening to my instructions in my helmet. win win.

indeed. I keep mine in my pocket unless it needs a charge and then I plug it into the bike and either slip it under my seat or put it in my pocket, whichever is more convenient. But I agree, there are def needs. I listen to music a lot when I ride also... so there's one.
