Where to Charge

I’ve been riding a Livewire One for about 3 months as a nearly daily commuter to and from work. I only charge up overnight at home. I usually take my 2010 Fat Boy for weekend rides. I want to try taking the Livewire One out for a longer ride but I’ve been hesitant because of the different things I’ve read about certain types of chargers being incompatible and other issues. I’ve yet to actually charge anywhere but at home.

Are there any particular branded charging stations that are most compatible/reliable with the LW1 that I should look for to plot out a ride?

I live in South Florida.

I have only tried a couple and they both worked. I think the non-compatible issue may be overstated. There are others on here that I'm sure will reply on this though and there is a thread in the charging forum where people have posted what issues they have had with different chargers. If you haven't already downloaded plugshare that's an awesome app to show you which stations are in use and out of service. If you are planning a longer trip you may want to check out "A better route planner". Hope this helps.

I've also had no problems fast charging - granted, I'm not in Florida.

Make sure you have the latest software uploaded in your bike (which addressed some charging issues) and enjoy longer rides.

I haven’t had any incompatibility issues either in the upper Midwest. Take a risk and find out! If you’re really worried, plan a trip using only Chargepoint, Electrify America, or EVGO stations. Those have all proven to be reliable connections for most of us here.

A word from the UK - I have done multiple journeys in excess of 200miles using several different charger type and all have worked perfectly. The queuing is a different matter. I just thought I would say because a lot of poeple may be a little scared to travel longer distances on a livewire because of all the bad experiences that people have had. It might just be the UK but I doubt it. Its not a garenteed nightmare. Get out and be brave. Its an awesome bike even with our weather.

Try an app titled, “ A better route planner”. It now supports the Livewire as a vehicle to select. It will plan your trip with charge stops and times at each charger. It is very nice and helps to alleviate the stress of when and where to charge.
